Modify messages by default (opt-out) is the default setting and indicates messages processed by INKY will be modified to include have a banner inserted.
Silent mode (opt-in) prevents INKY from adding a banner to your messages, while still processing the mail and providing a detailed analysis in your INKY dashboard. This setting is commonly used by customers who want to see how INKY will treat their messages, without any noticeable impact on their mail flow.
