Enable Internal Mail Protection
Summary
Similar to how INKY Phish Fence provides protection against external threats, Internal Mail Protection (IMP) protects your users against threats that originate within your organization. IMP enables banners on internal communications that utilize many of the same back-end detections already used for inbound mail; including internal sender profiling & social graphing. The following functionality is also enabled for internal mail:
Active Link Protection - Rewrite URLs in internal mail to detect zero-day threats and sites on an RBL.
Internal Mail Remediation - Remove internal messages from a user(s) mailbox in seconds, directly from your INKY Dashboard.
If you’re unsure if Internal Mail Protection is enabled on your account, please reach out to your Customer Sucess Manager or support@inky.com.
Enable Internal Mail Protection
IMP can only be enabled on Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace mail tenants.
Microsoft 365
Navigate to the INKY Deployment Page and log in using a Global Microsoft 365 administrator account.
Select the Features tab at the top of the page.
The deployment portal will automatically check your account to determine which features you are eligible for. If you do not see “Internal Mail” as an available add-on please contact support@inky.com.
With “Internal Mail” checked, select the “Modify Optional Features” button.
Optional: By selecting “Only for users in IPW-Group-Internal”, another group will be created specifically for internal mail. This allows you to test and evaluate IMP prior to rolling this feature out to all users that are in the IPW-Group. If this option isn’t selected all users in the IPW-Group will begin seeing banners on internal communications.
This process creates another transport rule named: IPW Mail for Inky Internal and modifies your existing IOC Strip Markup rule to process internal messages.Internal Mail Protection is now enabled on your tenant. If you selected the “Only for users in IPW-Group-Internal” checkbox, you’ll need to add users to the IPW-Group-Internal group under Recipients > Groups in your Microsoft 365 Exchange console. Otherwise, IMP is already enabled for users in the IPW-Group.
Google Workspace
Enabling IMP for Google Workspace requires a content compliance rule in addition to the ones you already have for INKY Phish Fence. Please contact support@inky.com for assistance.
